Black Sea Apartments at Vlas

Sveti Vlas, Bulgaria

Description:
Twelve holiday apartments and a swimming pool
Surface: 800 m²
Client: Private investor
Conception: 2005
Completed: 2008

The building is situated on a highly inclined parcel of 340 m2 on Rusalka Street in Sveti Vlas. The footprint is 120 m2 and GFA is 815 m2. It consists of six floors, on which twelve apartments are situated. They all have exceptional panoramic view: southwest to the sea and Nesebar Bay and northeast to the woods and the Balkan Mountains (Stara Planina). The entrance is from the park and is located on the third level. The staircase is in the core of the building and has an atrium skylight.

The architecture of the building is inspired by the traditional Nesebar houses, and thus the cladding is one of stone and wood. These materials are in harmony with nature and create perfect conditions for a great holiday. The style of the facades is contemporary and the clichés in the interpretation of the Bulgarian architectural tradition are avoided. In this sense, the building is innovative and it could serve as an example for the architecture along the Black Sea coastline. The building is environment-friendly and its high standards of insulation are in harmony with the requirements of sustainable development.
